In 1961, Princess Alexandra of the United Kingdom visited Hong Kong and paid a visit to Kam Kook Yuen shop located in Mong Kok. The late Mr. Leung Po-tung, the person in charge of Kam Kook Yuen, mentioned that during Princess Alexandra's visit, she suggested that Kam Kook Yuen should have an English name for the convenience of foreigners. Therefore, Mr. Leung personally gave the shop an English name: Kam Kook Yuen.
